Nathaniel Burney is a skilled trial attorney who joined our office in 2007 after nearly a decade
as a state prosecutor who handled complex white-collar cases. He now handles both civil and criminal
cases in state and federal court.
As an assistant district attorney, Mr. Burney first
worked for the Special Narcotics Prosecutor. Mr. Burney was then assigned to the Rackets Bureau of the New
York County District Attorney's Office, where he was involved in several high profile political corruption
and racketeering prosecutions. Since leaving that office, Mr. Burney has litigated civil cases ranging from defamation to consumer class actions. He also serves twice each month as a volunteer arbitrator in Manhattan Civil Court and lectures on legal topics at New York City public and private schools and colleges.
Mr. Burney received his bachelor degree from the University of Virginia and a law degree cum laude from Georgetown University, where he was an editor of the American Criminal Law Review. He also served as a personal assistant to former Chief Justice Warren Burger of the United States Supreme Court.
