Kya Blackstone began working for The Law Offices of Gordon Mehler, PLLC as a paralegal in 2004 during her senior year at New York University, where she received a bachelor's degree in history.
Ms. Blackstone left our office to work as an educator with the New York Historical Society. Deciding that law was her true calling, Ms. Blackstone recently received her law degree from George Washington University Law School. She was also a recipient of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund Herbert Lehman Scholarship.
During law school, Ms. Blackstone interned for the Honorable John Gleeson of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and was a summer associate at a Portuguese international law firm, Miranda, Correia, Amendoeira & Associados. Ms. Blackstone has studied abroad in Florence, Italy and Havana, Cuba and speaks Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.
